I love Body Shop & I love using masks! When I heard they have launched a new range of face masks, i had to give it a try. So, one fine evening I decided to indulge and bought the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying glow mask for Rs.2450/-. There are three main reasons for which I chose to buy this mask:
- 100% Vegan
- Paraben free
- Mud based mask (which I have been waiting to try for the longest time)
After using it a couple of times, i’m ready to share my views with you all.
- The mask contains Bamboo charcoal that helps in clearing out impurities & excess oil from the skin. Bamboo Charcoal has a long Chinese history & is known to have medicinal properties. It was used by people in their baths for healthy skin as well as in cooking
- Japanese green tea leaves are rich in antioxidants which in turn help in exfoliation
- Tea tree oil which is an incredible ingredient that is widely used in skin care & cosmetics. It is an essential oil that helps in keeping skin clean & acne free
My skin reacts to climate change & is quite sensitive. Generally, it’s combination however during summers it tends to get very oily and winters normal to dry. As we have the summer season upon us, I decided to pick this one as it helps in reducing excess oil. The mask has a thick, clumpy mud like texture because of the ingredients & the fragrance is good but slightly strong as it has notes of eucalyptus.
On application, you will feel slight tingling sensation but it will fade away in a few minutes. I felt it on my cheeks as the area is sensitive. The best part is, you don’t need to keep it for long like other masks. It will start drying in 3-5 mins and will also change color (similar to multani mitti/fullers earth).
After its completely dried, I use a cotton ball dipped in rose water (you can use warm water) to dab on my face to make it wet again so I can massage and exfoliate. After rinsing, my skin was refreshed and glowing, with tightened pores. It definitely felt good and firmer, however I could still feel a mild tingling sensation for a couple of minutes after wash.
I feel this product is good for combination to oily skin and can be used once a week.
I wouldn’t recommend it if you have dry skin as it can cause redness. You can try British Rose or Ethiopian Honey Mask if you have dry skin that needs moisturising. Overall, its a good product slightly high in price but if you are a Body Shop loyal, then do invest in this one.
